MetroSouth Medical Center could get property tax breakChicago Tribune
MetroSouth: We need break on taxesSouthtown Star

Tell your representatives you want their support for a strong MetroSouth Medical Center

At Issue

Last year we almost lost one of the most important hospitals in the Southland. Fortunately, MetroSouth Medical Center was saved from closing. One of the things that helped the new owners keep MetroSouth open was the expectation of partial tax reclassification from Cook County that would help offset the hospital’s investment in charity care and Medicaid services for low income patients.

Now it is uncertain if whether Cook County will deliver on this critical tax reclassification.

At a time when we are all trying to address the needs of people with limited access to healthcare we should be doing all we can to help keep hospitals open and available for everyone.

AFTER FIRST ROUND WE STILL NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

Earlier this week, the Cook County Board decided to send our request for a property tax reclassification to the Board’s Finance Committee for review prior to passage. This procedural detour may add to the time it takes to secure this important designation, but it also provides us with the opportunity to continue our efforts to show county officials just how important this issue is to the people of the south suburbs and the men and women who work at MetroSouth.

We were thrilled to be able to present all the County Commissioners and President Todd Stroger with thousands of petition signatures prior to this week’s board meeting. In addition, your efforts resulted in hundreds of phone calls and e-mails to commissioners expressing support for MetroSouth and for health care in our communities.

Since we were so successful the first time, we are asking you to REMIND elected officials that we are still determined to get this reclassification and we want them to continue to fight for health care and economic growth in the Southland.

Who We Are
